The Dev Ops Manager will develop, modify and implement processes to facilitate application releases and production application monitoring and support. The position will be responsible for the coordination of infrastructure environments, application builds and releases across all environments owning pre-production environments. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot and coordinate the resolution of issues for supported applications. This position reports to the Vice President of IT. The Dev Ops Manager will act as a cross-functional team member with Project Managers, Architects, Developers, user groups and infrastructure support teams. The Dev Ops Manager will work directly with manufacturers, vendors and other partners. The position requires significant interaction with several teams including the Application Teams, Project Managers, Developers, DBAs and Web Engineers, Change control, Helpdesk, problem resolution management and the QA Team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement automated infrastructure and application monitoring/testing utilizing a strong understanding of operations concepts such as alerting, monitoring, logging, and health checks
  • Configure and tune an enterprise application monitoring and instrumentation system(s) to efficiently detect and report on existing issues and predict future issues based on trends. This includes monitoring all components of the application such as Web and Database
  • Perform rapid response, trouble-shoot and triage of production issues. This includes troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains
  • Participate in on-call escalations to troubleshoot customer facing issues
  • Ensure standardized, mature change management and release management processes and automate deployment and maintenance procedures using industry-standard scripting languages to multiple environments
  • Coordinate production software releases
  • Coordinate the provisioning, load balancing, dynamic configuration/re-configuration, monitoring and spend optimization of servers across cloud providers, data centers and availability zones
  • Perform performance analysis and capacity planning maintaining performance models on all applications and systems
  • Analyze processes, recommend improvements and write process documentation
  • Partner with various development organizations to continually evaluate and improve our processes and application standards with the goal of repeatability and standardization and agility
  • Own all pre-production environments and manage deployments to these environments which includes Web, Middle and Database Tiers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Skills/experience with Continuous Integration software such as Jenkins and Visual Studio
  • Enthusiasm for being connected anywhere and on any device
  • Experience delivering always-on customer focused applications (i.e. online 24x7x365)
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt to new, complex development environments with deep dive analytical skills
  • Sound problem solving and debugging skills sufficient to quickly identify and analyze a problem, propose viable solutions and articulate why a solution is preferred
  • Working knowledge using cloud infrastructure services via associated API such as AWS, Azure or similar
  • 5-7 years leading a team and working with web and database engineers
  • 5-7 years experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems
  • Ability to work as part of an agile development team
  • Ability and proven success in collaborating with development and operations engineers in the entire service life cycle
  • Be very comfortable in the command line, writing scripts, etc.
  • Good listening and organizational skills to gather requirements and assess impact
  • Good critical thinking skills to understand business needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a high pressure, team environment
  • Strong initiative, commitment, and a positive “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Leadership skills to motivate a team of 3-4 Associates

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, management information services or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant background, skills and experience to include a minimum of 5 years support or architecture experience in windows or web development environments
  • Previous experience developing web application
  • Experience with SQL and database management systems which includes performance optimization
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Web and SQL concepts and solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to document and present ideas and solutions successfully to business sponsors, peers, management and leads
  • Ability to articulate ideas and solutions effectively
  • Interpersonal skills to motivate teams to deploy effectively and efficiently and communicate and influence management decisions
