The Market Manager is responsible for multiple stores and Store Manager supervision in a designated market. The Market Manager oversees the financial/budget, labor forecasting, product inventory and distribution, facilities management, vendor relationships and overall store operations for all stores in a market.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Responsible for the success and profitability of all stores within assigned Market by analyzing P&L, margins and other financial tools and implementing plans to ensure financial goals are met
  • Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures and practices regarding safety, security and loss prevention
  • Complies with applicable local, state and federal laws on health, sanitation and food safety, and employment-related laws; maintains Sprouts Open Door policy
  • Develops and mentors team members to assume key management positions at the store and trainer level
  • Ambassador of the Sprouts culture; striving to maintain the brand and reputation
  • Oversees facility management for all stores
  • Develops and implements programs to reduce shrink, maintain proper inventory levels and cash management
  • Ensures all stores adhere to proper Sprouts store conditions
  • Partners with Regional Trainers to address needs
  • Conducts store meetings and attends manager meetings
  • Coordinates new store openings
  • Reviews all store requests for new hires, promotions, demotions, terminations and transfers and partners with HR to execute such requests
  • Counsels Store Managers in coaching and development of Team Members
  • Helps maintain high levels of team member morale, leveraging team member recognition programs
  • Ensures proper ordering, receiving, invoicing, pricing and inventory processes are followed by all stores
  • Serves as local contact for community relations and donations

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field preferred; 5+ years of store management experience with multiple location oversight in the retail industry, preferably in the grocery industry; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Cost benefit analysis,  critical thinking skills and an ability to multi-task and solve problems
  • Ability to perform under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor during stressful situations
  • Capacity to motivate and inspire team members with strong leadership experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Good knowledge of perishable and non-perishable practices and principles in a grocery retail environment
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers, and team members at all levels
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements; basic math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, gross margins, markups, percentages and volume
  • Basic knowledge of employment practices such as recruiting, interviewing, employee relations, performance management; effective supervision skills, including the ability to motivate and hold team members accountable
  • Access to reliable transportation, auto insurance, a valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record

  • Must use Pallet jack to move pallets weighing up to 1000 lbs., requiring a force up to 50 lbs., for a distance up to 120 feet for up to 1 hour
  • Must use a utility cart to move product weighing up to 500 lbs., requiring up to 25 lbs. of force, for a distance of 120 feet for up to 1 hour
  • Must use a grocery cart to move product weighing up to 10 lbs., requiring a force up to 5 lbs., for a distance up to 120 feet for up to 10 hours
  • An upper body force of 10 lbs. for up to 1 hour is required
  • Bilateral coupling forces up to 50 lbs. for up to 30 hours are required
  • Will need to use a 2 step stool for up to 1 step per hour
  • Repetitive squatting/kneeling/bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours is expected
  • Standing continuously for 3 hours, for a total of up to 8 hours, is expected
  • Will work inside controlled temperatures
  • Vision required to stock, clean, organize, inventory, accept cash, verify cash tills, and do other administrative work
