Overview:

The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Manager is responsible for development and maintenance of an EDW roadmap and coordination of projects using Enterprise Information resources. The EDW Manager develops and manages all processes related to the EDW environment such as modeling, migration, and deployment of EDW objects. The EDW Manager must coordinate multiple projects so that delivery of functionality is provided according to the business requirements. Finally, the EDW Manager is responsible for the supervision of EDW staff including, but not limited to, conducting performance reviews, mentoring staff in best practice and problem solving, supervision of project tasks, resource allocation to projects, and production issue resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to team members related to technical issues and challenges.
  • Facilitate a collaborative approach to problem solving and make well-reasoned decisions.
  • Champion the company’s project and development methodologies and act as a guide and reference for other staff members.
  • Ensure standards are maintained, balancing consistency with flexibility to support business needs.
  • Establish quality standards, checkpoints, and communications processes to ensure project quality.
  • Create and maintain status reports for initiatives as required.
  • Escalate issues as appropriate to management both inside and external to Independent Health.
  • Manage EDW deployment roadmap and monitor any issues and resolution of such.
  • Coordinate project plans with project manager for specific project deployments and take over project management responsibilities post projects.
  • Develop the promotion and migration processes; coordinate migrations and promotion schedules for development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Define and manage the SDLC for the EDW environment.
  • Facilitate all management, customization, maintenance and performance initiatives related to the systems assigned to this position.
  • Maintain an understanding of the systems assigned to this position.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors to build understanding of systems capabilities, how the applications are used by other organizations, troubleshooting techniques, etc.
  • Actively participate in vendor user communities and other professional organizations to remain current and forward thinking in trends and application of assigned systems.
  • Read technical journals, manuals and materials provided by vendors to learn about systems capabilities.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry and market best practices to generate ideas for ongoing systems improvements.
  • Support a strong customer service focus throughout the department.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in computer science or a related computer field and four years of satisfactory full-time computer software experience in computer systems development and analysis, applications programming, database administration, systems programming, data communications, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time computer software experience as described in "1" above, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in"2" above on the basis that 60 semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related computer field may be substituted for one year of the required experience in "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one year of satisfactory full-time experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.
  • Minimum of seven years experience designing, administering, and implementing data warehouse systems, preferably SQL Server 2005/2008.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and project leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of database systems, data warehouse technology, reporting, and analytics.
  • Communicate well with business and technical stakeholders equally.

  • Understanding of Master Data Management design principles, application architecture, and enterprise architecture.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; understanding of project management best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CPG business is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent in experience and education is preferred.
