Description

The Category Manager will work internally at Dr Pepper Snapple and externally with large format grocery retailer in the Midwest, like Jewel, Hyvee, Roundy’s, to optimize pricing, promotion, shelving, and assortment with the goal of maximizing profit and shopper satisfaction. Qualified candidates will draw on the latest industry trends, leverage shopper insights, and use best-in-class technology. Candidates must be able to employ our Category Management tools in appropriate situations to grow distribution, space, and promotion frequency (Apollo/JDA Prospace/Space Planning, Nielsen, Household Panel, POS, Feature Vision and RichMix).

The ideal candidate will bring 7 years Category Management experience. They will be proficient in creating a compelling sales story and interacting face to face with category buyers at the retail accounts. They will be a self-starter, working away from the headquarter Category Management team, and reporting remotely into a Director of Category based in Plano.

This role is office based at our Northlake/Chicago regional site, with 20% travel.

Responsibilities

· Utilize insights to deliver retailer-centric strategy for growth on the CSD, Tea, Water and Warehouse direct categories with tactical recommendations to bring the strategy to life in-store.

· Align and support Regional Account Executives to drive top-notch execution with alignment to DPS strategies and objectives.

· Develop persuasive selling presentations using research tools/data to increase/protect distribution, space, and optimize assortment.

· Present recommendations and analysis to retail trade.

· Communicate and meet with DPS field sales and bottler partners to proactively plan, review and act upon business opportunities and recommendations.

· Work cross-functionally to leverage syndicated data and shopper insights in order to drive value for DPS through space and assortment initiatives.

· Work with retailer/bottlers to optimize assortment and create merchandising standards.

· Review and communicate results on assigned categories both internally and externally, including strategic review.

· Employ DPS Category Management tools and business processes in the appropriate situations to grow distribution, space and optimized assortment: (Household Panel information, Apollo / JDA space management software, POS, Nielsen, Spectra demographic information, Assortment Optimization tools (Rich Mix, Optimizer), and custom and proprietary consumer studies.)

· Demonstrate project management skills including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution
  • 5 years’ experience in sales analysis, market research, marketing analysis, or equivalent
  • 3 years’ progressive experience with Nielsen interpretation (or other syndicated data) and analysis to provide value added insights to retailer and sales personnel
  • 5 years’ experience MS Office products
