Our Company
Beach Babies opened in 1991 as a small family child care home in Manhattan Beach. What started in a small house with 4 infants has grown into 4 childcare centers throughout the South Bay, caring for over 500 children daily. Beach Babies has grown into what it is today because of a simple philosophy:
To give infants and children plenty of love and security so they will thrive. Since 80% of a child's development occurs by the age of three, what they learn from the very beginning will be with them for a lifetime. It is our primary goal at Beach Babies to make it a great beginning.
The basis of our philosophy is love and respect for all children beginning with infancy. We involve the children in activities relevant to them. We help the children learn to find their own solutions and build security by teaching trust. We encourage and nurture each child to grow socially, physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Our Teachers & Staff
Our team of caregivers are the foundation of our Company. Because the quality of our children's care is of utmost importance to us, Beach Babies holds our team of staff to the highest standards. We seek employees who share in our philosophy; that nurturing children in a loving and educational environment is the most important job. Here is what we look for in our prospective employees:
* 18+ years old
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Speak, read, & write English fluently
* High energy, positive attitude, and enthusiasm to work with children 6 weeks - 6 years old.
* Passion for educating children and seeking a lifelong career in Early Childhood Education.
* Must have above average attendance and punctuality and be dependable to work on a daily basis.
* Full-time employees must be available, Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 6:00pm.
* Part-time employees must be available, Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 2:00pm or 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
* Physical duties include: lifting up to 50 lbs., must have full range of motion (kneeling, bending, twisting, running, raising hands and arms above head, etc.)
* Teachers: 12 units of Child Development and/or Early Childhood Education coursework as required by CA State Licensing, Title 22, Section 101216.1

* Low Teacher to Child Ratios: Beach Babies believes in providing exceptionally low ratios in all of our classrooms to ensure a low-stress environment which enables are team of staff to give individualized care and attention to each child. This not only allows for a more rewarding teaching experience, but also helps cultivate bonds with children and families that last a lifetime. Here is a breakdown of our teacher to child ratios in each age group:
o Infants - 1:3 Ratio
o Toddlers - 1:4 Ratio
o Preschool - 1:6 - 1:8 Ratio (Varies by Age/Classroom)
* Flexible Scheduling: Beach Babies offers our full-time staff a flexible "alternative workweek" schedule. A typical schedule allows a staff member to work three full days (8 - 10 hours) and two half days (4 - 6 hours). This schedule allows our staff flexibility to balance their careers and their personal and educational commitments outside of Beach Babies.
* Health & Dental Insurance: Beach Babies provides all full time staff the opportunity to enroll in our group insurance coverage after 30 days of employment. Beach Babies offers a variety of plans to choose from including HMO's, PPO's, & Kaiser. Beach Babies pays the following contribution based on our employees length of service:
o 0 - 3 Years of Employment = 50% of base plan
o 3 - 5 Years of Employment = 75% of base plan
o 5+ Year of Employment = 100% of base plan
* Paid Time Off: After a short introductory period, Beach Babies full-time employees are eligible for paid time off. Based on an employee's length of employment with Beach Babies, an employee may accrue up to 22 paid days off per year of employment.
* Holiday Pay: In addition to paid time off, Beach Babies full-time employees are eligible for paid holidays in which the center is closed. Beach Babies closes for most major holidays throughout the year.
* Semi-Annual Reviews & Raises: Because our team of staff are the foundation of our company, we believe that each of our employee's deserves recognition and financial reward for their continued growth and development with our company.
