Description

Summary: Plans, organizes, and controls an assigned product line through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; however other duties may be assigned to meet the business needs at times.

Manage the department to maximize gross profit and minimize operating expenses.

Have knowledge of the department and store sales and profit objectives.

Assist customers in the selection and purchase of wine and beer by interacting with customers while in and out of the designated departments while demonstrating the highest level of customer service. Follow through on customer requests and special orders. Never be rude to a customer under any circumstance.

Maintain shopping conditions of the department as directed by supervision within the company. These functions include the following: stock levels, merchandising skills, proper backstock amounts, cleanliness, shelf tags/signs, special request inventory/procedures, rotation.

Manage the check in process with Beer & Wine vendors in accordance to company policies and procedures. These responsibilities must be done in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and applicable laws.

Backroom or backstock area well managed; neat, organized, inventory levels within corporate guidelines and safe from harm or theft.

Adhere to the merchandising guidelines that are communicated through corporate merchandising.

Have a thorough knowledge of and comply with all state and local ABC laws and regulations.

Follow all health and safety regulations and help keep the store free of dangerous situations. Immediately inform store management of all accidents and/or safety hazards.

Manage and supervise associates and/or vendors in the Wine/Beer Department. The individual in this position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.

Interview and train associates; planning, assigning and directing work within the department; assist in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three years related experience and/or training.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs using basic analytical business acumen.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word or similar word processing software; Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software; Soft Grocer inventory software or similar inventory software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 1 to 2 employees in the Beer and Wind Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
