Associate Buyer - Gear
Job Summary
The Associate Buyer is responsible for buying product for a specific category of merchandise to achieve sales and margin objectives. The candidate partners with others to develop customer-driven assortment plans. He/ She also negotiates with vendors on availability and distribution of merchandise and delivery deadlines, and will also be responsible for meeting department strategies as well as being an integral part of the financial planning of the department.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication and follow-up with vendors, distribution and merchant team.
* Responsible for extensions and cancellations of purchase orders.
* Track shipping on all advertised items and prioritize orders for warehouse.
* Acts as a liaison with vendor and Import dept. to assure orders are processed and received in a timely and organized manner.
* Tracks sales on all advertised merchandise.
* Proofs all advertising before release.
* Retail buying experience
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, as well as ability to implement projects/initiatives effectively
* Proficient organizational and management skills, as well as attention to detail and effective time
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point.
* Proficient communication skills
* Effective decision-making capabilities as well as ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Makes appropriate recommendations and sees projects through to completion.
