The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Senior Engineer for our Premise Technology, Product Development Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

The Premise Technology, Product Development team works closely with product, strategy, engineering and vendor resources to guide devices and technologies in the customer ' s home from conception to launch. This role will bridge the business and technical worlds to deliver platforms and services that meet the company ' s needs. Successful persons in this role will be self-motivated, action oriented and possess the ability to identify and enlist key stakeholders and sell the product across the company.

Key projects that may be the responsibility of this role include working with our legacy and advanced video products in support of company business objectives and schedules. This role may also support our Home Networking Hub initiative which helps enable a better connected experience for customers. This role will also focus on working with Operations to define and deliver better tools for the technicians with a focus again on providing a better customer experience.

Essential Job Functions:

The Senior Engineer works with various stakeholders across the company to define and communicate strategic vision.

The Senior Engineer evangelizes the solution to stakeholders, engages the business owners with concepts, strategies, problems and solutions. He adapts the message to the audience and modifies it as the solution evolves.

The Senior Engineer becomes an expert in his assigned products. He understands the strategy behind the product and acts as an advocate for the vision. He is able to understand the technical solution (and issues) and effectively communicate with or translate for other groups and stakeholders.

The Senior Engineer must identify business and technological risks and how they relate to the product as well as provide solutions or guide the team to find them.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for publishing the Product Definition which includes existing technical requirements or requesting new ones from Architecture, drafting new product requirements and use cases, and delivering an overall project plan.

The Senior Engineer works with stakeholders and project and program managers to define an overall tactical strategy and plan including milestone dates. The Senior Engineer should endeavor to deliver incremental features over multiple deliveries to minimize time-to-market.

The Senior Engineer clears the backlog by prioritizing product issues and placing them appropriately on the roadmap. Emphasis should be placed on incremental releases over large time consuming releases.

The Senior Engineer is the primary vendor liaison for products under his control. This includes negotiation of schedules and deliverables, definition of roadmaps and releases as well as supporting business negotiations.

The Senior Engineer is expected to represent his product/project in larger program meetings. He must be able to communicate status, issues and deliveries to the company and help identify how his pieces fit into the puzzle.

The Senior Engineer is expected to be highly available and react quickly to any and all requests.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for organizing and delivering demonstrations of product and key features to stakeholders. This includes presentations to large audiences as well as one on one communication.

The Senior Engineer shall have strong communication and leadership skills in order to effectively manage the projects under their control.

The Senior Engineer develops, contributes to, reviews and provides feedback on technical requirements documents.

The Senior Engineer works under limited direction in support of final goals.

Job Requirements:


- Bachelor ' s degree in engineering or computer science or significant equivalent experience in this role.

- Extensive experience with product and project management, including maintaining and communicating detailed project plans

- Experience with Agile and waterfall methods of project management

- Extensive and documented experience in product development of cable or other customer premise technologies

- Experience with requirement management tools, bug tracking databases, and project management tools

- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills that encompasses detailed technical discussions with other engineers or high level summaries and roadmap discussions with senior management

- Experience in vendor management, including defining software roadmaps and driving vendor discussions

- Proven ability to work collaboratively both within and outside of the core team

- Extensive experience in defining and maintaining Jira databases for bug tracking and prioritization purposes

- Proficiency with MS Office suite including Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Project, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Preferred candidates will be proactive and self-driven with a proven ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and deliver in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

- Proven experience in managing all facets of programs or product development including those areas not directly under the candidate ' s purview.

- Excellent working knowledge of STB software and technology including:

- OpenCable

- OCAP stacks

- Mystro Back office components

- Hosted Navigation (HNAV)

- OCAP program guides including ODN

- Documented experience with Contour or other requirements databases

Education and Experience:

Bachelor ' s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Travel Requirements:

Travel up to 25 %
