The IT Server Team Manager is responsible for delivering a high-performance and highly available systems landscape to support Medline's IT systems. Primarily this will comprise Windows servers and VMware vSphere virtual hosts. The Manager will maintain a professional level team that both supports the existing environment and provisions new capacity, both Windows and virtual, as needed for Medline's continued growth. In addition to the operating systems, the Server Team Manager holds primary responsibility for Medline's corporate email system, file and print servers, associated data backup technologies and the hardware on which all of these systems are built. The Manager works across teams to assist with projects, initiatives and resolutions of shared support issues that arise. This position also has oversight of the desktop engineering team and the tools used to manage Medline's desktop and mobile devices. Finally, the Server Team Manager establishes, tracks and reports on key performance metrics to demonstrate the overall performance of the team on a regular basis.

A successful candidate for this position will have a strong technical background with relevant experience as a team member/leader of a technical team. Candidates should also have previous experience managing technical teams in a production support environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily activities for Server and Desktop Engineering Teams
• Set team vision and align priorities with senior IT management
• Maintain on-call rotation and ensure that team members are responsive as needed after hours
• Work with business sponsors to identify client technology needs and identify potential solutions for them
• Effect tactical and strategic changes to continually improve performance
• Manage server asset lifecycle; including deployment, provisioning and decommission processes
• Document standard process and procedures
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies for use at Medline
• Coach team members in technical and professional aspects of their jobs
• Work with Helpdesk and other IT support teams to provide support for systems owned by the teams: Windows OS, e-mail, SCCM/MDM, data backup, file access, virtual landscape, etc.
• Support and maintain virtual landscape, ensuring superior system availability and performance of all components.
• Work with senior leadership to set quarterly goals, track progress against plans in Medline’s PWA process
• Create and maintain performance metrics used to measure and improve performance.
• Manage key vendor relationships and engage in negotiations as necessary
• Work with other IS and business units in cross-team initiatives and projects, provide project management for smaller initiatives as needed
• Manage all aspects of systems used to manage Medline’s desktop and mobile devices, including updates, build process and updates
• Maintain Medline’s anti-virus systems and assure assets are kept up to date and managed
• Manage support contracts and agreements for related technical systems, hardware and software
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Consistently interact professionally and work productively with all levels of Medline employees. Follow Medline’s Code of Ethics and other corporate policies

Qualification

• Demonstrated technical experience with server technologies such as Microsoft Server, Exchange and VMware vSphere.
• Previous experience managing an Information Technology team.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field preferred.
• Professional certifications as appropriate preferred (Microsoft, Cisco, VMware).
• Demonstrated ability to be a technical mentor/advisor to the Server Team as well as other technical teams.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software platforms
• Superior oral and written communication skills; able to communicate with a wide range of people from technical peers to heads of business and end users
• Excellent organizational skills, pays close attention to detail
• Works well independently, exercises good judgment
• Willingness to work flexible hours and be available as needed
• Infrequent travel may be required
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) software
