As part of our development team, you will predominantly be involved in building business solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications. You'll stretch your skills and grow your careers as a primary contributor in designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting all types of applications consistent with the established specifications and business requirements in order to deliver business value. This is a unique development role where your strong full-stack expertise and experience building complex public-facing web applications will enhance our Consumer Engagement Platform. We are looking for candidates who are knowledgeable of all layers of application development including system and database architecture, API development, and building JavaScript driven front-end interfaces. In this role, you will be expected to contribute to designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting applications meeting design specifications and business requirements to deliver business value.


 


To be successful in this position, you must be a self-starter and enjoy working with a highly collaborative team in a fast paced environment while managing multiple, concurrent tasks.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Feature development and defect resolution following acceptance criteria from user stories
  • Write unit and functional tests for all new features and add tests where additional coverage is needed for existing features
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our applications including regular, incremental refactoring
  • Collaborate with the team on code design and decision-making
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, trends and standards, browser capabilities, and accessibility issues

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Strong Model/View/Controller implementation expertise
  • Proficient with Ruby on Rails (3+ years)
  • Strong software engineering skills including writing and consuming REST based API's
  • Experience with 1 or more testing frameworks (RSpec, Capybara, Cucumber, or Jasmine) (3+ years)
  • Experience with schema design and query optimization for relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) (3+ years)
  • Experience working with version control systems; preferably Git
  • Proficient with jQuery, Backbone.js, Angular.js, or similar (3+ years)
  • Strong communication skills
  • BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with agile development (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)
  • Experience building font-end applications consuming web API's
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (Jenkins) and deployment to multiple server environments
  • Building and deploying large scale, cloud hosted web applications
  • Experience working NoSQL/Document/Graph databases (MongoDB, Hadoop or similar)
  • Healthcare industry experience
