Every person needs the support of others, but we look for very special people to support - adults with developmental disabilities. As an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Specialist with Massachusetts MENTOR you'll be one of those special people.

Massachusetts MENTOR is seeking an ABA Specialist to support the implementation of effective clinical strategies to support adults with developmental disabilities. By providing individual and/or group support and intervention, the individuals we serve will thrive in their living environment. This ABA Specialist may complete assessments and evaluate current support plans, and recommend strategies to enhance current systems. This person will serve as a support for adults with disabilities within the Shared Living model. The ABA Specialist may also assist with the intake process and will support all current placements. Description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:

•Completes structured assessment interviews with staff and care providers

•Conducts observation of the adult individual in appropriate settings such as home, school, or community

•Reviews social history information, completes functional assessments, and develop a Positive Behavioral Support model.

•Writes and submits summary of assessment and recommended behavior support plan components to interdisciplinary team (IDT) or program manager as applicable

•Serve as a trainer in clinical settings and educate staff on current clinical practices

•Encourages continuous, age appropriate, active treatment and learning opportunities for adult individuals served

•Advocates for the human rights and civil rights of individuals receiving services from the agency by attending and presenting behavior support plan information to human rights and other review committees

•Supports and trains staff in implementing behavior intervention plans and conducts classes and orientations as assigned by the program director

•Attends staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings, as applicable

•Develop interventions to minimize disruptions and encourage long term placements for individuals served.

•Review data and incident reports to compile date and strategies for ongoing support of staff and individuals served.

•Assures that documentation and records are kept confidential, organized, and complete

•Submits monthly documentation to supervisor in an accurate and timely manner

•Develops and maintains professional relationships with local contacts, other professionals, and staff members

•Performs other related duties and activities as required Qualifications

  • Documented training in behavior modification techniques required
  • Ideal candidates should have a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Special Education
  • Minimum of three years of ABA experience with the adult population and BCBA Specialist preferred
