Medical Assistant - Full-time / Part-time

About this Opportunity

• Check out each patient quickly and courteously, including ringing up payments accurately (including insurance co-payments) and billing and additional charges for services; receive authorization for payment
• Ensure adherence to all third-party mandates, compliance and incentive programs
• Accurately and efficiently complete as much of the pre-work process as allowed by law
• Keep guest medical information private and confidential at all times (HIPPA)
• Give guests accurate wait times and updates for their appointments and keep them updated before they ask the status of their appointment
• Quickly and courteously answer all internal and external telephone calls; take messages, transfer pages and/or provide information as needed (if applicable)
• Answer questions regarding insurance co-payment, billing and additional charges for services
• Perform medical and care duties as allowed by state law

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Understands of health insurance: local providers, general plan types, and terminology
• Ability to scan and/or key appropriate information into register and electronic medical record
• Ability to review instructions, reports and information on computer screens and key information on computer
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, long hours)

Desired Requirements

• Certified and/or Registered as a Medical Assistant
• Understanding of basic medical terminology, common complaints, physical signs of illness
• Understanding of health insurance: local providers, general plan types, terminology
• Previous experience in a medical setting
• Previous experience with an Electronic Medical Record
