The Lead Counselor will work under the direction of the Camp Director, to supervise an assigned unit, which will include both staff and campers. Provide direct delivery of camp games, and activities held at Clearbrook. Work directly with the directors in the coordinating and organizing of the total camp program.
This is a full time summer seasonal camp position. Camp Clearbrook runs Monday through Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm from June 22 through August 21.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Take every effort to be a leadership presence in building and nurturing a sense of community and understanding among all staff members.
2. Serve as a supervisor, but also as a support to camp staff.
3. Assist Camp Directors with planning and implementing certain elements of staff training.
4. Be accessible at all times to assist with camper discipline and emergency situations.
5. Be an integral part of the camper discipline system, working with individual campers, helping staff through problems and being a general resource.
6. Assist the directors in planning and implementing special events and activities.
7. Communicate with the directors regarding the well-being of the staff.
8. Promote and support positive and meaningful interactions between campers.
9. Report to the Camp Director any concerns about a camper's health, safety, or well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2 to 3 years of summer camp counselor experience.
2. Experience in working with K-5 age group.
3. First Aid and CPR certified
4. Excellent knowledge of games, sports and other subjects of interest to children.
5. Personnel supervisory experience.
