Out-Patient Rehabilitation Therapy Services, Full-Time (1.0) Position

The Physical Therapist III develops and delivers comprehensive physical therapy programs to patients requiring these services. Programs are directed at restoration of and quality of movement and consist primarily of therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy techniques, gait training and transfer/mobility training, with heat and cold, water, electricity, ultrasound, and other modalities as adjuncts to improving movement. Re-evaluates and adjusts these programs to meet patients changing needs. She/he delegates portions of treatment to aides and assistants, directing and supervising as indicated. Precepts students. Inputs on department planning, standards or care/protocols, policies and procedures. Participates in performance improvement and department development activities. Interacts with the multidisciplinary patient care teams for coordinated patient care.

The Physical Therapist III has advanced clinical skills in at least one clinical area and is responsible for teaching those advanced skills to other staff members and functions as a role model/resource in providing high quality care in this area. He/she has responsibility for at least one program for program development and marketing.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required:

1. Must be licensed, or an applicant for licensure, as a Physical Therapist by the Physical Therapy board of California. Must take and pass the examination within 6 months if not already licensed in California.

2. Completion of an entry level post baccalaureate curriculum of professional education in physical therapy, accredited by the APTA and approved by the Physical Therapy Board of California (baccalaureate level curriculum or post baccalaureate certificate program satisfactory if graduated prior to 1995 and have at least 5 years of experience).

3. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider Course.

Minimum Experience:

1. At least three years of experience required .

2. Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care management system.

3. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
