Registered Nurse (RN) – Infusion/After Hours Clinic

TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital is currently looking for a Registered Nurse ( RN) – Infusion/After Hours Clinic

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Cares for Neonate/Infant (0-12 months) Pediatrics (1 – 17 years) Adults (18 – 79 years) Elderly (80 years). Follows patient safety standards. Utilizes translation services when indicated.

The tasks and responsibilities include:

Assesses, plans, and evaluates patient care needs.

Carries out physician orders.

Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures

Provides patient education and documentation of understanding regarding tests, procedures, equipment and medications, and the education necessary for the patient to meet continued healthcare needs.

Prioritizes patient care based on patient condition and needs

Assess pain according to policy

Initiates, regulates and monitors administration of medications, parenteral fluids, electrolytes, blood and blood components accurately.

Performs routine care and maintenance of central venous access devices (i.e. PICC lines) according to policy.

Recognizes adverse response to care or treatment, documents and reports to attending physician.

Implements medical orders and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures and regulations.

Interprets changes in patient status, reports and intervenes appropriately.

Provides thorough, accurate and timely documentation.

Acts as a patient advocate and liaison to patient and physician and makes needed services referrals.

Schedules procedures – maximizes bed utilization and productivity.

Appropriately handles fiscal management functions: ( knowledge of charge master; enters charges in Meditech; participates in audits; utilizes resources to assure compliance with ethics and compliance procedures; stocks unit, ETC)

Coordinates hospital services; such as dietary, housekeeping, pharmacy, diagnostic testing

Performs venipuncture for IV therapy and phlebotomy.

Provide age and culturally appropriate care.

Orients and mentors new staff members

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required Qualifications:

RN licensure by Kentucky Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.

BLS from the American Heart Association.

ACLS & PALS Preferred

Demonstrates proficiency in performing venipuncture for IV therapy and phelbotomy.

Demonstrates knowledge regarding central line access and maintenance (i.e. PICC lines).

Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making skills.
