Job Description

Demonstrates knowledge of medications, their usage, dosages and dosage form

Recognizes any drug interactions and contacts physician to adjust therapy

Demonstrates skills in the preparation and dispensing of medications

Accurately enters orders in the computer

Is efficient in correcting MAR discrepancies

Adheres to therapeutic substitution policy

Follows up on problem orders appropriately

Communications with physicians and Hospital personnel are handled in an appropriate, courteous and professional manner at all times

Facilitates dissemination of drug information in a timely manner to assure achievement of high quality, cost-effective and positive therapeutic outcomes

Proper documentation and follow-up are provided when indicated

Uses available drug information resources effectively

Identifies opportunities for professional growth of clinical pharmacists and facilitates staff development activities

Identifies areas for improving technical competence of technicians and facilitates enhancing their supporting role in pharmaceutical care

Ensures the accuracy of all medications dispensed

Medications are properly labeled at all times

Orders are filled and delivered within the specified turnaround times at all times

Compounded medications are prepared properly and in a timely manner, as necessary

Carts are checked accurately on scheduled days

Continuously monitors and checks the work of technicians, also directs departmental workflow as necessary or in the absence of a supervisor

Complies with departmental policies and legal requirements at all times in dispensing controlled substances

Maintains proper documentation of controlled substances at all times

Job Qualifications include:

4 year Bachelor degree

Hospital exp pref

BLS issued by the American heart assoc.
