The Clinical Educator/Employee Health Nurse exemplifies nursing practice through expert clinical practice, education and consultation. The clinical educator works in collaboration with department leaders and staff development coordinators. They are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting educational training and skills validation. The educator/nurse functions to improve patient care in accordance with standards of care and practice.

Assists with skills validation of nursing staff.

Demonstrates understanding and teaches principles of nursing process, including patient care management.

Facilitates competence of staff through periodic education and training and ongoing assessment of competency related to specified patient populations.

Collaborates with managers to assess, plan, evaluate and adjust new nursing personnel’s clinical orientation as needed.

Provides feedback regarding staff clinical performance to Manager/Director.

Acts as a resource, provides remedial education and coordinates skill validation for nursing personnel lacking specific clinical competence.

Participates in planning meetings to identify high-risk, problem-prone skills for annual validation process.

Participates in nursing quality improvement efforts.

Exhibits excellent customer service techniques.

Role models and teaches critical thinking, chain of command and problem solving.

Maintains current knowledge and skills in education as well as clinical nursing through professional development.

Assist with ECC classes as needed.

Tracks all employee health records.

Flexible work hours to meet the needs of the clinical environment.

Current UT RN license in good standing

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

BSN preferred

2 years clinical nursing experience required
