Security Officer Unarmed - Full-time / Part-time

Under the direction of the Chief Security Officer and/or Plant Operations Coordinator, provides Security Services to protect life and property for all persons on the hospital premises. Responds to all Emergency / Fire Codes and protects property from Fire, theft and vandalism. Maintains active and satisfactory working relationships with staff, clients, and contractors. Provides support and coordination in the overall operation of the department and facility. Maintains proficiency within the field with reference to initial contact, interview and detention procedures. Knowledge of operational aspects of computer systems and radio procedures; Conducts interviews and initial investigations of reported incidents. Must quickly take control, remain calm, resolves conflicts, and/or resolve situations in a timely manner; Correct problems identified. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Must have a proactive approach to problem solving, i.e. addresses issues, problems or behaviors through verbal and nonverbal communication, i.e. maintain respectful and appropriate language and non-defensive body language. Demonstrates a willingness to receive and respond to constructive criticism appropriately. Must have a team work approach with other disciplines as well as within the department. Must be able to identify and work to resolve workflow problems

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Prior POST Certification desirable.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; College level course work in police sciences or related field preferred

Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience in security, law enforcement, Military Police or equivalent job related experience. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Special Qualifications: Knowledge of general fire and facility safety regulations. Be able to perform minor Maintenance duties as requested.
