The Optum Analytics business unit is seeking to hire a Vice President of Business Development. This critical role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing a wide range of partnerships and other commercial growth opportunities that are critical to our strategy. Though, it does not have primary responsibility for closing sales, this role will strategically ascertain, establish and cultivate critical business relationships, partnerships (3rd Party Connect Program) and acquisitions with leadership across the market spectrum. 3rd Party Connect is an initiative to extend the Optum One platform, allowing health care providers and/or their patients to seamlessly access applications built and maintained by external organizations. Relevant data from these applications will be passed to Optum Analytics, analyzed, and subsequently integrated into Optum One modules. The result is the creation of a much more robust set of data collected outside the period of interaction between a patient and their healthcare provider. Ultimately, this data will lead to a richer understanding of patient activity, attributes, and outcomes.


 


The Vice President of Business Development will work closely with Executive Leadership, sales, operations and marketing groups to identify & translate business development strategies into specific opportunities.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate and drive the process with the leadership team to identify and prioritize targets for partnership, licensing, new venture and acquisition opportunities across the Optum Analytics business, encompassing provider, payer and life sciences markets

  • Evaluating, structuring and negotiating complex partnership agreements that support Optum's business goals

  • Analyze market trends, implications and develop strategies

  • Work closely with all internal client stakeholders: delivery, sales management, operations, legal in the pursuit of client satisfaction and delivery profitability

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • 10+ years' experience in corporate development or similar business development strategy role at a healthcare or technology company and/or in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking with activities in healthcare

  • Experience identifying/evaluating strategic business opportunities that represent value based on ROI, revenue potential & overall growth opportunities

  • Experience directing financial analysis, due diligence and other key aspects of evaluating and gaining approvals for deals

  • Experience working with Senior Leadership and ability to effectively message, position and present information for impact and influence

  • Proven ability to operate and effectively navigate in a highly complex, matrix environment

  • Ability to successfully negotiate multifaceted internal operating environments with a high level of teamwork

  • Ability to navigate multiple large organizations simultaneously and foster collaboration and partnerships

  • Passionate leadership style with demonstrated performance success 

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; Master of Business Administration; Master of Health Administration

  • Experience in Healthcare data solutions
