Manpower is currently looking for small cable assemblers in the Michigan City, IN area. This is a 3 month position with the possibility for a permanent hire and has an hourly rate of $10/hr working a 1st shift. Qualified candidates will have experience with and/or knowledge of the following: * Counting (up to 100) * An understanding of decimal places in working w/ numbers * Reading and following written and visual work instructions * Operating hand controlled equipment (to cycle) * Operating a foot pedal controlled equipment (to cycle) * Operating an automated equipment using a PC Controller * Using go / no-go gages * Use and read calipers, micrometers and tape measures (in English and metric) * Use common hand tools (wrenches, exacto knife, hammer) * Operate a scale to complete weight counts * Ability to hold components steady while inserting into narrow spaces * Ability to hold components steady while inserting into operating equipment * Understanding of wire and ability to confirm wire type by counting strands and measuring diameter Physical Capabilities * Ability to complete fine-finger manipulation of small components. * Ability to lift up 15 - 20 pounds (frequently) * Ability to lift up to 75 pounds (infrequently) * Ability to visually identify fine details for completion of quality checks Requirements: * Measure and cut cable to required lengths * Attach assembly components to cable * Load and operate crimping equipment to secure assembly components * Load and operate metal forming die cast equipment * Load and operate hydro forming equipment * Change machine dies for start of new production runs * Complete visual quality inspections on work-in-progress and finished product * Measure and ensure dimensions of work-in-progress and finished product * Operate pull-test equipment * Complete first piece inspection * Record completion of production and quality checks on production logs * Package completed work-in-progress and finished product
