FPGA/DIGITAL DESIGN AND FIRMWARE ENGINEER

FPGA/DIGITAL DESIGN ENGINEEER

Location is Binghamton, NYapprox. 2.5 hours from NYC

I have an immediate need for multiple Firmware Engineers and FPGA/Digital Design Engineers for a long term contract opportunities (1-3+ years) in the greater Binghamton, NY area. Both job descriptions are listed below for you to review and all work must be performed on site. The FPGA/Digital Design Engineers will develop and support FPGA/CPLD designs through all phases of design and system integration for high-reliability embedded aerospace and ground based vehicle systems applications. He/she will perform activities such as requirements generation, design, RTL-synthesis, test bench development and design simulation, static timing and power analysis, and requirements based design verification. Other activities include prototype evaluation, design-to-cost tradeoffs, design reviews, qualification test support, system integration support, production and obsolescence support tasks. He/she will also need to maintain the desire to stay current in the continuously developing field and to expand knowledge base and skills in FPGA design and digital hardware engineering.

  • BS/AS Degree with a minimum of 3-5+ years of related experience with FPGA/CPLD design
  • Circuit design experience with the demonstrated ability to design VHDL-based FPGAs and CPLDs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital electronic devices and circuit design principles and experience using design/analysis tools, such as Timing Designer and Hyperlynx.
  • Hands-on hardware build, test and integration experience.
  • Familiarity with FPGA integration into digital circuit card designs to ensure electrical integrity of FPGA design in embedded applications.
  • Design experience with Microprocessor/Microcontroller interfaces such as I2C, SPI, CAN, memory interfaces such as SDRAM controllers, Flash, SRAM; serial interfaces (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS422, RS485, etc.) and FPGA design using Microsemi, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera, etc.
  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-254 hardware design processes
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink for auto-generation of FPGA code
  • Design tools such as Synplify and ModelSim (preferred, not required)
  • Experience with high-speed Digital circuit card design, including part placement and routing, constraint generation and signal integrity analysis.

FIRMWARE ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY (multiple needs)

Location is: BINGHAMTON, NY

I also have an immediate need for multiple Firmware Engineers for long term contract opportunities (1-3+ years) in the greater Binghamton, NY area. This Firmware Engineer will be responsible for participating in research, design, and development of embedded software/firmware systems. A qualified firmware engineer will have experience with writing software and firmware for various microcontrollers, FPGA development (Preferred-VHDL), and embedded C/C++ programming. The work will be performed in an ITAR regulated environment and may include both governmental and commercial aerospace/defense projects. These are long term, multiple year contracts and will require an individual to work onsite in Binghamton, NY due to the regulated nature of the projects.

  • BS/AS Degree with a minimum of 3-5+ years of related firmware design and development for embedded systems (Required)
  • Experience in wiring software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers. Firmware development in C/C++, VHDL, or other programming languages in highly preferred
  • Previous experience working with DOD, FAA, and MIL STDS in highly desired
  • Experience in designing mixed signal circuits (FPGA, PLL, GPS, RF)
  • Experience in circuit simulation (preferred)
  • Team player that works effectively with cross functional development teams
  • Ability to work in an ITAR regulated environment (No Sponsorship Available)
