Overview:

The General Manager for HBC leads the overall Acosta business relationship and manages the Client P&L for to maximize Acosta services revenue and incentive (bonus) earnings. The GM leads Client development for planning for coordinating the overall Client Service Team resourcing plan across Acosta Sales (HBC), Retail, Support Functions and Marketing Solutions. He/she positions Acosta as a strategic solutions provider in formulating business strategies and operating plans to achieve Client sales and customer development objectives. The GM designs, leads and directs the Acosta Client Services Team in coordination with the Operations Teams. He/she oversees Client business tracking and results reporting; and financial management of all Client business development funds and sales operations resources. The GM is responsible for Team staffing, training and development and the maintenance of a high performance work team dedicated to continuous improvement in Client service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Exercise strategic leadership and general management capability in representing the full scope of Acosta services as a strategic resource partner in business development planning and relationship-building with the Client’s Senior Management and Functional Leadership, thereby positioning Acosta as the Client’s trusted advisor and preferred Agency resource
  • Manage the Acosta revenue, budget and P&L to achieve assigned Client business and financial goals; and to grow Acosta’s total revenue, bonus capture and services share at the Client.
  • Organize the Acosta Client services plan and supporting resources for achieving the Client’s business development objectives. Coordinate the participation of Acosta support groups and Capabilities teams, ensuring strategic alignment of Acosta services, capabilities and Client goals
  • Structure, staff, train and direct the Client Services Team, including dedicated and shared resources across Acosta Operations, Strategic Channels, Retail, Support Functions and Marketing Solutions
  • Actively build and maintain relationships with Client senior management and key functional leaders, including strategy, sales, sales operations (sales planning, insights, trade and shopper marketing and category management), marketing, finance, customer service and human resources.
  • Oversee Acosta’s integrated planning and execution process, facilitating development and execution of Client strategic and operating plans and sales initiatives across channels, retail and Acosta support functions.
  • Provide strategic direction and communication about the Client’s business and financial goals to ensure consistent focus on priorities and active communication of business conditions and opportunities across the Acosta services network
  • Monitor and communicate Client results vs. assigned business and incentive objectives to the Acosta Services Team and the Client’s Executive and Functional Management teams
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices and common resource initiatives across consortium team partner companies to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency while furthering Acosta’s total value and services retention efforts with Client senior management
  • Coordinate meetings/Client market visits; and work on special projects as requested by senior management. Travel 40% of the time to Client and Customer headquarters; and key retail markets to observe business conditions and opportunities.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of increasing management responsibility with a manufacturer, retailer or service agency in the consumer packaged goods industry in HBC.
  • Evidence of effective performance in handling management assignments in multiple functions (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, Finance or Operations)
