GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - The Environmental Services Technician performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas. Creates a sanitary, safe environment and enhances the appearance of the facility

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Follows specific procedure to perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new patients.

2. Uses industrial cleaning agents and equipment following appropriate safety procedures.

3. Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers and vacuums.

4. Moves furniture and other objects as needed in order to ensure adequate cleaning.

5. Orients and mentors new staff members.

6. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

7. Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES - This position requires the following minimal requirements:

1. Must have customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

2. Must be detail-oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time.

3. Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

4. Must role model ethical, safe, fiscally responsible practices

5. Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.

6. Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities.

7. Must demonstrate teamwork and team building skills

EDUCATION - High School diploma, GED, and/or Vocational / Technical training preferred

EXPERIENCE - At least 1 year experience in hospital/hospitality housekeeping required; hospital housekeeping experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - Physical requirements include: constant standing/walking, twisting, pushing/pulling, using arm, leg and back muscles, smelling, hearing, color vision, finger dexterity and working in hot, cold or wet surroundings. Frequent bending/stooping, lifting 50 pounds and working with or near chemicals. Occasionally sitting, climbing and using hand tool or power tools.
