POSITION PURPOSE - The DC Office Area Supervisor will lead an hourly team and will handle management responsibilities for the team members under his/her supervision. This role is responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient and accurate handling of inbound paperwork, managing vendors in relation to inbound deliveries, responding to store inquires and issues as well as developing and implementing team goals. This role is responsible for hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates. This role has management responsibilities for 15-30 hourly associates.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - 40% Managing Process: Oversee pre-receiving duties performed by the clerical staff, including the flow of paperwork from the yard office, efficient preparation of inbound packets, and auditing inbound packets for accuracy. Manage the partnership with the Stores including the timely response to customer service issues, requests to expedite POs, and general PO status inquiries. Evaluates and analyzes current processes and recommends ways to improve efficiency. 20% Driving Results: Monitor and manage vendor relationships to resolve pre-receiving issues quickly, ensure compliance with procedures, delivery performance, and LTL shipments. 20% Business Planning: Collaborate with Yard, Inbound & Transportation teams to ensure the timely processing of HOT, LIVE and other special receiving events, as well as trailer location and counts. Participate in daily operations meetings, communicate pertinent information, develop inbound schedule and provide to appropriate parties. 15% Coaching and Developing Associates: Coordinate and supervise activities of clerical staff, including selection, training, evaluation and termination. Provide direction to clerical staff including scheduling and ensuring coverage is provided for breaks, vacation and absences. 5% Reporting and Administration: Manage the completion of required reports, record retention and other administrative duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE - Reports to DC Assistant General Manager. Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors Degree Computer skills in software including Microsoft Office Experience with Warehouse Management Systems 3 plus years supervisory experience in a related field
