On behalf of RTI International, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Field Interviewers to work on the WIC Nutritional Eduation Study.

Job Summary:

Field staff complete enrollment and baseline data collection for a project conducted by RTI International (RTI). Staff will be hired by Headway Workforce Solutions to conduct fieldwork at WIC clinic locations (TBD) in Oregon, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Missouri, Massachusetts, and West Virginia. Activities will include intercepting WIC recipients checking in for appointments to introduce the study, conducting an eligibility screener on laptop, collecting informed consent, and administering two self-administered questionnaires (SAQs) Staff will perform duties according to study protocol, collect materials, conduct case management activities, distribute incentives, and report to on-site Team Lead and Field Supervisor. Staff ensures that field data collection activities are carried out in an efficient and cost-effective manner, that the data collected are of the highest possible quality, and that all activities are conducted in a professional manner. Some screenings may be conducted in Spanish. Duration of individual assignments will vary based on the size and caseload of the WIC clinic within the geographic area, but are expected to last 4-8 weeks.

Job Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Able to attend and successfully complete training the week of June 22, 2015
  • Speak English (some locations will need some Spanish speaking staff)
  • Reliable personal automobile or reliable public transportation available
  • Must be willing to work the agreed upon schedule (estimated 20-40 hours per week), primarily Monday-Friday during business hours, but with some work occurring on evenings and weekends
  • Successful experience with interviewing
  • Familiarity with working in a clinic setting is preferred
  • Able to pass a background check


Training:
  • Complete web-based training courses from RTI prior to in-person training
  • Read the field manual and complete required home study materials before arriving at training
  • Attend and successfully complete a 2 to 2½-day project-training session to be held in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina
  • Sign and adhere to the project Confidentiality Agreement
  • Participate in on-the-job training with supervisor and other project staff, as requested


Job Requirements:
  • Ability to interact effectively with WIC staff and study participants
  • Ability to work with children, in the event the participant needs child assistance while completing survey materials
  • Monitor as individuals exit their WIC appointments and be prepared to intercept participants to complete all study activities prior to them leaving the site
  • Accurately complete required incentive tracking records and follow incentive payment protocols
  • Willingness to travel to local stores to purchase additional incentives as needed
  • Excellent communication (both in-person and by telephone) and technical skills
  • Ability to use a laptop computer to conduct data collection activities
  • Access to internet required, either by Ethernet connection or Wifi, for uploading and downloading data and assignments on a nightly basis
  • Willingness to conduct follow up reminder calls to participants in local area
  • Flexibility with regard to availability (i.e., working time(s) may vary throughout the duration of the data collection period, though attempts will be made to provide as much advance notice as possible)
  • Ability to obtain cooperation of participants by effectively answering questions and addressing concerns
  • Ability to correctly administer consent procedures and obtain signed informed consent from adult participants
  • Establish rapport quickly and interact comfortably with individuals from diverse cultural and/socio-economic groups
  • Interact with all respondents in a manner that is professional and non-judgmental
  • Perform fieldwork according to expectations
  • Maintain files in a way that is organized and that protects the confidentiality of the materials and the project
  • Demonstrated ability to work with supervisor and complete assignments on schedule
  • Supply prompt, reliable, and accurate reporting to supervisor
