Novato Community Hospital is a 47-bed acute-care hospital located approximately 30 miles north of San Francisco. It is a part of the Sutter Health network of doctors, not-for-profit hospitals and other health care service providers sharing resources and expertise to advance health care quality and access in the more than 100 Northern California cities and communities.

We are searching for a Per Diem Sonographer II. Provides ultrasound imaging in one area of expertise (Diagnostic, Cardiac, or Vascular) and patient care services at defined levels to patients.

The Sonographer positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Implements safety standards to protect to staff and patients. Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures. Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment. Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols. Maintains mandated continuing education requirements. May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

2 years experience in a high volume acute care hospital is required. Graduation from a recognized Ultrasound training program and/or proven experience in the acute care hospital setting performing sonographic categories of obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal, cardiac and small parts or non-invasive vascular procedures.

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in good standing, is required in 2 of 3 Ultrasound imaging areas: Diagnostic, Cardiac and/or Vascular. BLS Healthcare Provider.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
