Job Summary:
Performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during and after surgical interventions under the direction of licensed staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Quality - Assists in providing optimal care to patients during surgery experience in collaboration with surgical team and meeting facility standards to achieve best possible outcomes. Service - Cares for patient/family according to the Sutter Difference standards and activities ensuring the best patient/family experience. Growth - As a team member, participates in patient plan of care to achieve optimal health goals. People - Participates as a member of the health care team in a professional manner according to the Standards of Excellence/Conduct promoting a positive work environment. Finance - Utilizes resources to deliver quality care in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Community- Promotes a positive relationship between Sutter Health and the community.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited surgical technologists program or extensive experience as a surgical technologist, such as is usually obtained in approximately 10 years. Required Experience:
Acute care experience preferred. GI experience strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current certification as surgical technologist (CST) is preferred for all new hires; BLS-HCP required.
Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skill, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a ever-changing environment and respond appropriately to complex situations.
Knowledge:
Must have demonstrated knowledge of effective English written and communication and basic computer proficiency skills.
Access to Protected Health Information:
This position has access to protected health information. The protected health information this position can access is all medical record information. This position requires this patient health information in order to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
Shifts: Flexible shifts per department need. Standby call/weekends.
