About this job
The Neuroscience RN Navigator is responsible for developing, facilitating, and/or coordinating system-wide patient care services for the neuroscience spine patient. The nurse navigator will function as a patient advocate and resource, proactive case coordinator, and clinical educator for the patient. This position serves as primary intake for patients referred to the spine program. The nurse navigator will develop and maintain a high degree of expertise and knowledge regarding state of the art technology and services related to spinal surgery and adhere to Sutter Health mission and leadership standards.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum Experience:
Five years clinical experience required, neuroscience background preferred
Orthopedic, spine, or neuroscience experience preferred
Previous experience with performance improvement
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in a field related to advanced nursing
Case Management experience, license/certification
Other Preferred Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills required
Ability to create positive team and professional alliances
Standing in the community through previous outreach, public service, and/or program partnerships
Required Licensure:
Registered Nurse with current California License, CPR, ACLS, RN
Physical Demands:
Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Occasional lifts supplies/equipment
Working Conditions:
Contact with spine patients under a wide variety of circumstances
Contact with the public
Contact with physicians and physician group practices for patient intake Exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases OSHA Risk Category II (Medium Risk) Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries Subject to many interruptions
