Job Summary :
The person hired for a position in the Pilot Plant Technician Apprentice Program will be responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining pilot plant equipment. Provide support to conduct experimental runs while maintaining a safe working environment. This job involves shift work on a regular basis with overtime.
This position will provide the candidate with opportunities to utilize mechanical skills and continuous improvement concepts to execute experiments that relate process variables to product responses of specialized processing technology in order to create new and improved 3M products. Well-developed communication skills are required as interfacing with a variety of functional areas will be a prominent component of this position.
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess or in the last year of pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college in Engineering, Auto Body Technology, Automotive Service Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Welding and Metal Fabrication, Film Technology, or Chemical Technology
- Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Self-starter with hands-on approach to problem solving
- Ability to work well on cross-functional teams
- Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Personal flexibility to handle change within the workplace
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Intermediate computer knowledge
- Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills
