Intern, Sports Production & Digital

Summary of responsibilities: The Sports Intern will perform sports production using sports knowledge, social media venues, writing briefs, and possibly editing content for airing, digitally or on TV.

The Sports department is hiring three summer interns. Internship opportunities are either 20 hours per week or 40 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Passion for sports journalism and broadcasting, as well as depth of knowledge of sports history, news, leagues, teams, and competition events for both U.S. based and International sports.

• Publish articles, photo galleries and videos to system.

• Proof all published content on the front end of the website to check for broken links, images not displaying properly, etc. and fix or report to the team for troubleshooting.

• Write athlete bios as needed.

• Assist with publishing of videos on Telemundo.com and social media through writing descriptions, adding thumbnails, etc.

• Make posts and upload videos daily, creating authentic and original posts, as well as post links to push out content.

• Facilitate social media contests to accomplish the marketing and editorial objectives.

• Crop and resize photos as needed using Photoshop.

• Assist Associate Producers with production related tasks for broadcast programs. These include identifying newsworthy stories, researching sports news topics, logging taped interviews, monitoring trends of sports related stories on social media channels, pre-production, post-production and assisting on set during live broadcasts.

• Potential hands-on experience with basic non-linear editing on AVID.

• Technical production of the daily sports briefs. Qualifications/Requirements Basic Requirements:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, is a plus

• Must be willing to work in Hialeah, Florida

• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation

• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

• Must be 18 years or older

• Must be fluent in Spanish and English (speak, read & write)

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be able to work the duration of Program (10 weeks) - June 8th-August 14th

• Project-based internship program

• Minimum 3.0 average

• Sophomore standing or higher (30+ credits)

• Must be authorized to work in the US in a paid position

• Attending an Accredited Institution and working towards earning an Associates, Bachelors, or Graduate degree

• Must be 18 years of age or older Desired Characteristics Education and/or Experience: Majors should include all Sports Management, Business, and Journalism disciplines. Student must be willing and able to commute to Hialeah, FL, without relocation assistance. Student must be actively enrolled in a college or university. Students that have already graduated are not eligible for this position.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Social writing and editorial writing experience.

• Photoshop, CMS, Social Media, and YouTube publishing experience is a plus.

• Follows through with all tasks, assignments and job duties in a timely manner.

• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, think and respond quickly while maintaining attention to detail.

• Must be capable of working within a team environment.

• Must be capable and willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
