PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing.

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464.

2 years of nursing experience.

A valid driver’s license free of any major infraction and access to an insured reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes (mileage will be reimbursed).

DESCRIPTION

Duties and responsibilities are those of an advanced public health nursing position assigned to provide advanced, comprehensive public health nursing services in the immunization outreach and general program.

Utilizing the public health nursing process, the incumbent will be required to independently conduct, coordinate and monitor for quality control and assurance.

Provides public health advanced level assessment of health status and health care needs of individuals, families and/or groups of individuals (particularly those with complex and multiple problems and communicble disease) in a variety of settings, including clinics, schools and other public/community facilities.

Provides immunization outreach at a variety of sites in the community.

Works with contracted businesses to provide vaccinations to the staff. Provides vaccinations in the community as requested and/or needed.

Provides influenza vaccination to staff, WIC Clients, and community sites as requested.

Visits individuals and families in public, and/or community environments to assess health status, and to provide advanced level health teaching and guidance.

Maintains records and reports, documenting service and care provided as required.

Participate in educational, professional and community activities that relate to professional growth and aid in the improvement in the delivery of client care.

May be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency operations functions required of the incumbent include but are not limited to special needs shelters, Red Cross shelters, and/or other functions.

Perform other duties as required.
