2015 SUMMER INTERNSHIP - HOUSTON, TX

Title: Intern, Health – National Pharmacy Practice

Summary: Under the direction of a Project Manager, duties will include the following:

· Participate in the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) RFP process for our clients, including: RFP development, vendor selection and contract evaluation.

· Run Buck’s proprietary pharmacy benefit financial model to compare PBM pricing offers and projected savings during the RFP evaluation and vendor contract renewal process.

· Participate in the scoring of all RFPs and client meeting assistance.

· Assist with the review of new and renewing vendor contracts to ensure contract language complies with RFP requirements.

· Assist Lead Consultant as client advocate during implementation of a new vendor to ensure vendor requirements are being met and service levels meet client and Buck’s expectations

· Identify issues and concerns for appropriate escalation and resolution to ensure successful transition from current to new vendor.

· Conduct plan design analyses and cost impact analyses using Buck’s modeling tools.

· Prepare benchmark studies.

· Prepare client reports.

· Prepare proposals for new consulting opportunities.

· Conduct research for internal and external publication of articles and other communications.

Training: Through real-life client assignments and courses offered by Buck Consultants University, interns will receive both on-the-job and classroom training. You also will have the opportunity to participate in specially designed virtual training programs.

Through webcasts, individual assignments and team projects, you will broaden your learning experience through:

• A wide array of Client services offered by Buck and Xerox.

• WebEx presentations.

• Business writing.

• Review of benefit plan documents.

• Spreadsheet design. Exposure to medical and other employee benefit plans for active employees and retirees

• Team building

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business. or Economics degree or equivalent to demonstrate strong analytical skills

• Minimum 3.0 grade point average

• Excellent verbal and writing skills to document work and communicate with colleagues

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Strong work ethic

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree

• Detail oriented with solid interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong PC skills

• Advanced skills in Excel

• • This is a non-actuarial intern role that does not require any SOA exam progression.
