P/T Instructional Design Assistant
ASWB Engineering is a growing engineering consulting firm located in Tustin that specializes in helping clients increase energy efficiency, reduce costs, and reduce carbon footprints. As part of our business, we provide training services to energy utilities and trade organizations throughout the state of California, Hawaii and recently in the mid-west. Over the last 30 years we have developed a vast library of Energy Efficiency workbooks and presentations for over 30 courses on topics such as air-conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, and facility energy management.
We are seeking a part-time Instructional Design Assistant to assist in the continued development of training workbooks, presentations, activities, and quizzes. The position includes working as part of a team, consisting of a training coordinator, a professional instructional design consultant, and our primary instructor (a VP-level senior engineer and subject matter expert).
When not developing training, other duties may include the editing of engineering reports, assisting with proposals for new projects, or helping to write internal company policy documents.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Developing and editing technical training workbooks (advanced MS Word)
* Assembling clear, attractive, and to-the-point slide presentations
* Quickly learning, understanding, and communicating technical concepts
* Provide tech support to our primary trainer with MS Office, PDF, and printing
* Supporting web-based trainings (webinars)
* Assisting with occasional training assessment projects
* Assisting with other writing assignments: proposals, reports, procedure manuals
* Miscellaneous IT support (training will be provided) as needed
Qualifications:
* Recent graduate with B.A./B.S. degree, or working toward a degree with completion of relevant upper-division coursework
* Excellent writing skills
* Advanced skills in MS Word formatting
* High level of general MS Office proficiency (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Strong attention to details and dedication to accuracy
* Ability to create attractive graphics in vector-based image editing software is a plus
* Experience writing for deadlines (e.g. school paper) is a plus
