The External Distribution Channel (EDC) Agent Manager is responsible for achieving assigned sales/membership growth targets through the agents in his/her market. EDCs are agents/agencies that contract with United Healthcare Medicare & Retirement to sell our products to prospective buyers. The Agent Manager may interact with all levels of staff within the EDC up to and including a local owner/leader.

 

The travel area for this position will be Cincinnati and Northeast Kentucky.

 


Role Responsibilities:

 

Inform and engage agents through regular two-way communication and feedback. Works closely with sales coordinator, organize Agent activities, leads and territories to ensure effective and efficient coordination across assigned market.

 

Act as a liaison between agents and UHG sales process owners to ensure agents are appropriately set up and supported. This includes, contracting, licensing/appointment, certification, training, enrollment administration, commission payment, agent servicing, etc.


 

Assist agents and other Agent Managers in uncovering market niches and actively pursuing growth opportunities. Monitor sales results, trends and key performance indicators (KPI's) and hold agents accountable for achieving targets.

 

Utilize, know and coach usage of key sales tools & processes: Actively model the use of technology and tools to conduct day to day business. Monitor tools and systems to ensure appropriate usage by agents. Utilize data and reports for basic sales analytics to ensure productivity/sales goals are being met and to make adjustments as appropriate to leads, etc. and/or as a coaching tool. Document coaching/actions as appropriate.

 

Translate market strategy to agent tactics: Work with Sales Director to execute on and translate the sales business strategy to agents. Ensure agents understand how their actions/day to day activities drives the overall results of the organization. As needed/appropriate made adjustments on agent/agency tasks to ensure sales business goals are being met. Manage company resources appropriately.

 

Achieve and maintain strong knowledge of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement products. Understand the target audience of our products and how to position products and value proposition to remain competitive.

Ensure agents adhere to selling guidelines associated with Medicare regulations, partner expectations (e.g.; AARP) and company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree preferred


3+ years of sales/business development experience in a direct to consumer/retail environment with   demonstrated ability to consistently achieve assigned sales/growth targets.


Excellent communications skills both verbal and written

 

Ability to present complex information across a broad audience

 

Must be a solid performer and driven to meet targeted sales goals

 

Ability to travel up to 75% of the time across assigned territory

 
Experience and knowledge of the insurance or related field, preferably managed care and/or Medicaid.

Experience managing individual sales representatives responsible for selling a portfolio of products via a needs/solutions based sales approach, including cross sell, up sell, product migrations.

A current Life and Health Insurance license for the state of Ohio must be obtained and maintained as required by state law.

 

A current Life and Health Insurance for the state of Kentucky is a plus or be willing to obtain one upon hire.

Knowledge of CMS regulations and standards.
