The Senior Pharmacy Technician is responsible for handling all incoming Billing and Eligibility phone calls and for serving as the primary customer interface for departmental inquiries.    



This position is full-time (40 hours/week) with our site Hours of Operation from Monday - Friday 7:00 - 9:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. We do require our employees to be flexible enough to work any shift, any day of the week during those hours. Our training classes not only prepare you for your role and ensure that you have the tools and resources that you need to be successful.     



We will pay for and provide support for you to obtain the required state licenses you need to have.    

     

Responsibilities:     



  • Pharmacy technician working in the Prior Authorization unit within the Customer Service department of OptumRx.

  • Using established criteria and guidelines, the pharmacy technician receives and processes prior authorization requests made by providers and members for medications not inherently covered on a member's prescription drug plan. 

  • Answer prior authorization inquiry calls as well as research and resolve formulary and benefit issues using the appropriate reference material. 

  • Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

  • Handles inbound phone requests and gathers member data to provide information for Pharmacist consultations
    

Requirements


Requirements:    





  • Employment is contingent upon successful Pharmacy Technician licensing and registration    


  • 1 year of customer service experience analyzing and solving customer problems, OR 1 year of experience in an office setting environment using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform job duties    


  • Available to work 40 hours per week within the operating hours of the site of Monday - Friday 7:00 - 9:00 PM and  Saturday-Sunday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM    


  • An education level of at least a high school diploma or GED OR 10 years of equivalent working experience     


  • Authorization to work in the United States     


  • Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications     


  • Ability to navigate a computer while on the phone     


  • Ability to multi-task, this includes ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product    



  •     

    Ability to remain focused and productive each day though tasks may be repetitive     

Preferred, but not required:    
    




  • Current Kansas or Missouri Pharmacy Technician license OR National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred

  • 1-3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred 

  • Pharmacy/ prescription data entry experience preferred
    





Physical Requirements and Work Environment:    



  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computer 

  • Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
