Job Description
Job Title: District Manager - Merchandising Reports To: Regional Director of Merchandising FLSA: Salaried, Exempt Next Level of Management: VP of Merchandising Date Revised: 03/12/2015 SUMMARY: Reporting to the Regional Director of Merchandising, this position exists to perform a variety of functions within the Merchandising Field Services Team. Manages and supports individual merchandisers as well as groups of teams in an assigned district. Ensures that all personnel in respective district adhere to safety, productivity, quality, customer service standards and all Company policies and procedures. Effectively manages Scorecards as outlined within company performance objectives. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistant District Manager(s), Team Leader(s) and Merchandiser(s) PERFORMANCE AND / OR EDUCATION PREREQUISITES: High School diploma or GED required. A four-year college degree is preferred, 2+ years of prior retail merchandising experience and prior leadership experience required. Store operations and set crew experience a plus. Possess the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results. Has a bias for action and continuous improvement. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED: Possesses a thorough understanding of retail merchandising concepts and standards. Strong leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills. Detail-oriented. Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of employees. Self-motivation and initiative in developing new/improved methods of accomplishing tasks. Ability to effectively interface with all customers at various levels from store to corporate. Computer literate with ability to navigate in various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple store locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assumes ownership and responsibility for all accounts within their respective district by building and maintaining strong working relationships with all associated store management/personnel and ensuring that all work agreed upon between sales or client services and respective customer(s) is executed against at store level
  • Plans, coordinates and analyzes district staffing requirements and coordinates all hiring needs to minimize employee travel expenses with appropriate Regional Recruiters to on board new employees
  • Manages, trains and supports district personnel in their daily operations to meet individual and team performance objectives by coaching and directing them in all areas of their responsibility
  • Thoroughly manages all personnel matters including disciplinary issues as needed and communicates them to the respective Regional Manager for further direction
  • Accurately submits salary adjustments on a timely basis as needed for all district personnel
  • Ensures that all appropriate personnel receive and adhere to all company communications including but not limited to safety program, special project/operational packets, training materials, policy and procedural updates and all schedule changes
  • Conducts district training sets, field tests and/or other pilot tests as need
  • Performs all record keeping, reporting and auditing functions including but not limited to Week in Reviews, project payroll, and data auditing
  • Ensures that all district personnel adhere to all company policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate entries are made for both reporting and payroll into the data system by all district staff
  • Analyzes data and makes good business decisions based on maintaining effective scorecard measurements including but not limited to workers compensation, overtime, mileage, mix of hours and unbilled hours to ensure that optimal cost efficiencies and productivity are met within the district
  • Computer literate with daily internet access and ability to access company issued email
  • Any other reasonable request pertaining to the job
  • Additional Requirements:
    1. Ability to make decisions about proper safety
    2. Ability to complete appropriate paperwork and online data entry
    3. Ability to manage the appropriate number of hours used to obtain goal objectives ensures that all payroll hours and all other necessary information is entered into the automated payroll system daily, per company policy.
