Mission

* Identify areas of opportunity in the department and implement required changes to improve efficiency of reporting, operational procedures, processes, and improve analysis of data.
* Develop and execute all Quality Assurance programs and activities that ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including GMP and HACCP.
* Establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of quality assurance department staff.
* Encourage a supportive culture within the Quality Assurance Department, and an environment that supports success and the pursuit of excellence.

Job Responsibilities

* Develops, manages and implements company Quality Assurance Programs (HACCP, SSOP, GMP) in a USDA/FDA regulated facility.
* Resolves food safety and quality issues.
* Orchestrates third party facility inspections.
* Leads and/or participates in quality audits of the plant.
* Develops, maintains and reports required operational information to management.
* Ensures all quality-related information required for regulatory reviews and reporting is maintained by the plant.
* Participates in scheduled GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies.
* Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all products manufactured by the plant as well as the raw materials, packaging materials, and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications and standards.
* Participates in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality improvements.
* Analyzes QA data to measure, access and improve product quality performance.
* Keeps abreast of latest food safety, quality and manufacturing technologies, systems and practices.
* Monitor lab results, review QA documents and environmental findings reports.
* Develops operating policies and procedures as necessary.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Technology, or Food Science preferred or sufficient experience in the food industry to cover the technical skills needed.
* Experience in managing food safety in multiple facilities.
* 3-5Yrs food manufacturing experience in a USDA/FDA regulated facility,
* Must be HACCP certified for meat, poultry and seafood through an accredited training program.
* Must have a strong background in Maintenance Management for a meat processing facility.
* Solid knowledge of Laboratory Procedures and Microbiology.
* Solid knowledge of USDA and FDA label requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
* Handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
* Good writing, analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Proficient in computers including MS Word and Excel.
* Must speak English fluently.
