Primary Responsibilities:



  • The candidate will work as part of a dedicated IT operations support team. This team supports mission critical applications. The candidate will be responsible for operational support including but not limited to troubleshooting and driving to resolutions on software problems and technical issues. Infrastructure requiring operational support includes ten separate environments, encompassing eighty-four servers

  • In addition, as part of the team's innovation goals, the candidate will develop, utilize and maintain system/process documentation and reports

  • The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and effectively present technical issues to a non-technical audience. The person must be customer-focused with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment

  • The candidate will be working in an IT operations team utilizing the service management and service delivery principles defined by the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) organization

  • Key service management activities include:

    • Incident Management

    • Problem Management

    • Change Management

    • Release Management

    • Configuration Management

  • Availability during non-business hours will occasionally be required to support software release activities and to resolve high priority production incidents

  • Key service delivery activities include:

    • Proactively reviewing the state/status of the services

    • Ensure the services meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

    • Establish relationships with key stakeholders

  • The candidate will be responsible to follow and help enhance Operations IT Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). They will also need to embrace our United Cultural values of; Integrity, Compassion, Relationships, Innovation and Performance.

  • Positions in this function coordinate the processes and activities that focus on restoring service after an incident occurs

  • Monitors environment health and the facilitation of high severity incidents to improve the state of service availability and continuity

  • This function also includes those who operate and monitor computer and peripheral equipment

  • Coordinates the efforts of all functions to complete scheduled jobs in a timely manner

  • Documents all problems (hardware, application, facility, etc.) and takes corrective action as required

  • Interfaces with other departments as required

  • Reviews the work of others

  • Develops innovative approaches

  • Sought out as expert

  • Serves as a leader/ mentor

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience with a UNIX/Linux operating system

  • 3+ years of experience with shell scripting

  • 2+ years of experience supporting web based production applications and web services

  • 2+ years of SQL experience

  • Availability during non-business hours will occasionally be required to support software release activities and to resolve high priority production incidents

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of experience with a content management system

  • 2+ years of Documentum experience

  • 2+ years of working with Oracle databases

  • 2+ years of web development using Java

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes

  • Taskspace 6.7

  • Xeditor 4.5

  • Xpression 4.5

  • xVCP 2.0

  • WebSphere 7.5

  • Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS)

  • Subversion (SVN) version control
