We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Part Time Summer Aquatic Center Positions - Aquatic Attendant.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

On behalf of the City of Kingsport and the Kingsport Aquatic Center, AtWork is recruiting for the part time, seasonal position of Aquatic Attendant. This is a great opportunity for high school students and others interested in summer work!

REPORTS TO: Head Lifeguard

SALARY RANGE: $7.55/hour




Purpose of Job

The Aquatic Attendant is responsible for providing assistance to guests utilizing the water slides at the aquatic facility and supporting the highest levels of customer service for participants, staff and visitors. Provides information to customers regarding the facility hours and general information about the KAC, as well as providing assistance to customers regarding lifejackets and equipment needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Mans a position at the top of the water slides to ensure safe entrance and passage of users.
• Ensures proper height of users on the water slides of the facility.
• Assists customers with the proper fitting of life jackets and ensures that they are secured properly on the guest.
• Assists customers with obtaining equipment necessary for various instructional classes and lap swim.
• Maintains a safe environment by monitoring patron traffic; uses good judgment in contacting appropriate personnel as needed.
• Maintain a professional and personable demeanor while working with participants, staff and visitors.
• Assists with upkeep of the facility within the aquatic grounds when not manning the water slides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of the KAC.
• Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job.
• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with supervisor, staff, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of KAC.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

• Must have general knowledge of water safety and comfort around the water.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently.
