Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Server
1. Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, ensuring that condiments are refilled and that all tabletops and chairs are clean.
2. Stays updated on current menu selections, specialties and menu deviations, knows when/if kitchen runs out of any items.
3. Greets all guests warmly, coordinates table bookings, directs guests to their tables, presents menus, suggests selections, assists in drinks selections and informs guest about food preparation details.
4. Maintains a proper dining experience, delivers items, fulfills guest's need, offers drinks, desserts, removes courses, replenishes utensils, etc.
5. Properly opens and pours wine via table side
6. Properly obtains payments, issues receipts, returns change, etc. via EPICOR in both La Barra and store systems.
7. Clears and resets tables as needed.
8. Maintains specific side-work and ensures total cleanliness of La Barra.
9. Assists with nightly cleaning/maintenance of La Barra and Kitchen areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Prep Cook
1. Oversees kitchen set up and food preparation.
2. Handles preparation of menu items.
3. Follows recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the menu.
4. Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift.
5. Cleans and maintains kitchen while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills.
6. Oversees and assists with cleaning, sanitation and organization of the kitchen, coolers and storage areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year experience working in a kitchen as a prep cook, line cook or sous chef.
2. Food handler's card, ServSafe and/or TiPS/VA MART/RSVP certification is required. Specialty food service experience is a plus.
3. Availability to work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week is a must.
4. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs., which includes repetitive movement.
5. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact with other employees, vendors and customers.
6. Must work well under pressure, be organized and adaptable, able to manage several priorities at once, and be creative and self-motivated.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Under La Tienda's compensation structure, this position is in the Retail-Restaurant Job Family at the Assistant/Server/Line Worker level. The Line Cook position pays between $9-$11/hour. The Server position pays $4/hour. Both positions are part-time, non-exempt positions and are not eligible for benefits.
