3M is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Traffic Safety and Security Division located in Maplewood, MN. Be part of what’s next!

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Electrical Engineer will be primarily responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support and leadership for the Electronic Hardgoods group of the Traffic Safety and Security Division. Duties to include identifying and leading process and product technology improvement projects; NPI programs; management of change and ongoing support for existing products; global manufacturing location determination; cost analysis; and product/equipment start-up and relocation.

The Electrical Engineer will work with multiple plant sites globally. Key technologies and skills include electronic surface mount technology, electronic design, automated test equipment, RFID, injection molding and electromechanical assembly.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Leading and participating in NPI programs

- New product scale-up or introduction to the marketplace

- New process technology that improves quality or reduces cost

- Lead factory cost improvement projects through the use of Lean Six Sigma tools and project management practices

- Leading and participating in multidisciplinary teams

- Identifying and implementing quality improvement and cost reduction opportunities

- Facilitate identifying and implementing new technologies and the transfer of new products and processes to other locations within the US or globally

- Proficiently plan out complex activities involving technical, manufacturing and business objectives

- Communicate status, timelines and critical issues effectively

- Coordinating multi-site analysis and efforts to improve service, inventory and cost

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university

- Minimum three (3) combined years of experience in manufacturing technology, plant, pilot plant, laboratory process development and/or production process engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering—Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering will be considered

- Minimum of one (1) year experience with “hardgoods" manufacturing

- Experience applying technical knowledge such as process engineering, equipment troubleshooting or applied processes and skills for solving complex system problems

- Experience driving commercialization programs from scale-up to launch

- Experience with surface mount technology, injection molding and electrical hardgoods assembly

- Experience with electronic design

- Experience supporting any of the following technical hardware or software systems: Document Scanners, Biometric Devices, Printing Systems, RFID readers and/or camera systems

- Experience using MS Project

- CAD experience (e.g. CATIA, v5, Solidworks, AutoCAD)

- Experience participating on new product development cross functional teams

- Strong project and change management skills with ability to set objectives and deliver results

- Strong Lean Six Sigma projects leadership and acumen of the methodology

- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

- Strong technical and non-technical communication skills both oral and written

- Self starter that leads with high energy and passion

- Effective facilitation, communication and teaching skills

- Ability to engage and influence the organization with strong process and execution skills

- Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools
