This acquisition also brings a portfolio of well established brands to PPG such as Glidden, Glidden Professional, Ralph Lauren Paint, Devoe Coatings and Martha Stewart Living paints; Flood, Sikkens and Synteko woodcare products; plus Liquid Nails adhesives and caulks.

PPG Architectural Coating is hiring for Customer Relations Representatives!

Responsibilities Include:
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate input customer orders on a daily basis which can be received via phone, fax, email or electronic data interchange
  • Spend a minimum of 80% of available time interacting with customers and entering orders.
  • Ensure a continuing flow of information to the customer on all aspects of their account including availability, order delivery and invoicing.
  • Increase incremental volume and distribution efficiency by taking a pro-active sales initiative.
  • Interface with sales personnel to ensure that customer orders are shipped and PPGAC service level objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Participate as a member of a self-directed work team in developing team goals that enhance service and look for ways to reduce cycle time.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including safety and quality.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The customer service function is divided into several teams which service shipments out of multiple distribution centers and plants throughout the U.S. and Canada. Orders are received by telephone, fax, email and electronic data interchange (EDI) from all U.S. and Canadian customers, field sales associates and service associates and are entered into the order entry system for timely shipment from plants and distribution centers. Order volume exceeds 200,000 orders per year for Lucite®, Olympic®, and Pittsburgh Paints® as well as other PPG brands. The routine training of architectural coatings staff is an essential function of this group.

The incumbent’s role is to learn how to help, inform, and represent PPG's customers by processing their orders in a courteous and efficient manner. Furthermore, the incumbents have the opportunity to learn to increase incremental sales whenever possible by suggesting larger and more efficient distribution quantities to customers where applicable. Must learn to respond to questions from all customers, internal and external, about architectural coatings products, services, distribution system or where to buy architectural coatings products. Must also learn to handle the resolution of customer requests promptly and courteously.

The customer relations representative needs to become knowledgeable about every aspect of customer service, which includes ERP knowledge, order processing, distribution, product knowledge, sales promotions, financial controls, pricing, and policies and procedures. They must learn to respond to customer concerns related to shipments, credits/re-bills, and returned goods authorization.

The customer relations representative must build upon their working knowledge of the architectural coatings policies and procedures, products, sales force strategies, distribution network, manufacturing processes and financial controls to better understand the business unit objectives and thereby enhance their ability to service the customer.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Up to ( 3 ) three years of experience in a Customer Service function is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential in helping the incumbent interact with different levels of the business as well as with external customers.
  • Personal computing literacy is essential.
  • Basic skills assessment testing is required!


Work Direction of Others:

Seeks out the customer relations team leader for assistance in resolving complex customer problems. Follows up with customers and provides written documentation of credit/rebill issues to meet their needs. Embraces the self-directed team concept and facilitates the improvement of team performance in all accountability areas.
