The Time Warner Cable News Washington Bureau covers Washington news for Time Warner Cable ' s Local News Division, which operates a network of cable news channels in New York, North Carolina and Texas. The channels include NY1 News, NY1 Noticias, TWC News in upstate New York, TWC News Carolina, and TWC News Austin. Our mission is to provide news coverage of local interest to those markets from Washington, D.C. with an emphasis on reporting national political stories with a local focus for our markets.

SUMMARY

We offer opportunities to students who are motivated and eager to learn about broadcast journalism and gain valuable experience in a newsroom environment. We are looking for interns who will help plan, execute and coordinate various aspects of news media.

DESCRIPTION

Interns at the TWC Washington Bureau will be responsible for assisting with monitoring of breaking news, researching and compiling data for stories, developing contacts, and writing and observing the editing process. Interns will have opportunities to go out in the field on shoots, as well as to assist with newsroom live shots and on-set interviews. Interns will develop knowledge and experience in broadcast newsgathering, bureau operations, and field production.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL INTERNS



Candidates for internships MUST:

- Receive academic credits

- Have strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills, leadership and organizational abilities.

- Maintain a professional appearance, be enthusiastic, and have a demonstrated interest in journalism and news.

- Be able to commit to 16-24 hours per week.

- This is an UNPAID INTERNSHIP.

Coursework or previous internship experience in communications, journalism or related field is preferred.
