Job Summary:

Performs finance and accounting functions in support of IT Infrastructure Delivery organization, including financial reporting and analysis, forecasts and budgets, financial tracking and Accounts Payable. Provides general accounting and financial management support and assists with projects and business processes for assigned home departments and service departments. Develops alternatives and solutions where guidelines are not available. Interprets internal policies and procedures and functions as a resource to others. Works under limited supervision.

Qualifications:

Minimum

High School diploma or equivalent 4 years administrative or clerical support experience Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including ability to create and use advanced functions such as Vlookup, Pivot Tables, Graphs/Charts

Preferred

Associate/Bachelor’s degree, certification, or continuing education Expert Microsoft Office skills Working knowledge of Marriott’s various Financial tools (PeopleSoft AP, Mosaic Reports, GL Reports, MICS Report and OnDemand Reports) Experience in a technology organization (understands technology-related terms) Experience in an accounting function responsible for multiple departments with $50M annual transaction volume Solid communication (verbal and written) and organization skills Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments Strong problem-solving skills; Ability to leverage resources in the accomplishment of objectives High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively in teams or independently

Responsibilities:

Reconciles monthly accounts and researches/resolves discrepancies. Supports development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for assigned home and service departments. Presents financial information to management on a monthly basis. Investigates and explains variances and follows up on action items. Collects financial data from multiple sources to prepare accounting entries; researches problems encountered with the data or responds to inquiries regarding the entries. Submits monthly accruals. Tracks leases, maintenance and other contracts and communicates upcoming renewals in a timely manner. Verifies mathematical accuracy of accounting documents and reports. Determines and makes appropriate corrections. Creates correspondence, price bids and coordinates purchases with outside vendors. Creates, tracks and reconciles purchase orders. Manages Fixed Asset Inventory tracking and disposal as assigned. May audit expense reports for conformity with internal policy. Supports internal billing of IT Infrastructure services. Processes data through an automated accounting system to record items such as operating expenses/accounts payable, travel expenses and other miscellaneous journal entries. Verifies the accuracy of the entries by analyzing edit reports. Ensures timely and accurate invoicing using PeopleSoft. Tracks invoices and investigates discrepancies. Reviews transactions rejected by the accounting system. Researches the reason for the rejection (e.g., coding, mathematical errors) and prepares the correcting entries. Performs data entry into a sophisticated tracking or reporting system utilizing spreadsheet, database or mainframe applications to develop detailed, complex back-up schedules for accounting entries. Reconciles discrepancies in amounts charged to accounts including complex accounts (e.g., bank accounts) that contain specialized non-recurring transactions. Researches discrepancies and unusual transactions/issues. Identifies errors, assesses the impact of the error and proposes corrections. Compiles and distributes financial reports. Maintains filing systems within department; retrieves documents and responds to requests for information from the documents as necessary. May provide work direction to other permanent or temporary support staff associates.
