Elvern Farms is a Pennsylvania Century Farm located in Mt. Bethel, PA with a retail farmer's market located in Pen Argyl, PA. For over 35 years, Elvern Farms has grown and sold fresh, quality produce, specialty groceries, bedding plants, and other seasonal products to the Slate Belt community and beyond. Elvern Farms is also a licensed Pennsylvania winery with a retail sales area for wine and hard cider within the farm market. In July 2014, The Cider House Gift Shop was opened as a complement to the farm market and winery and is a specialty gift shop focusing on every day gift items, home furnishings, and imported European giftware. The goal is to provide the highest quality products along with an optimal customer experience with every customer interaction.
Job Description
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
*Drives sales by assisting customers with products and services being offered
*Engages in conversation with customers to understand their needs in order to best assist them
*Responsible for opening and closing the store on a daily basis
*Assist with inventory management and ordering for multiple product lines
*Responsible for cash draw management and accuracy of the register transactions
*Must have an entrepreneurial mindset and approach to daily activities
*Must be familiar with current advertised products, prices and locations to assist customers in locating merchandise
*Must be able to prioritize tasks
*Must be able to stock merchandise at all levels of the shelving in the store in a timely manner to keep up with customer demand; especially during busy times
*Must be able to properly assist customers via phone and/or e-mail as well as pack and ship merchandise to fulfill ecommerce orders and/or phone orders
*Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
*Previous retail experience in sales and/or customer service
*Knowledge of produce and plants/flowers
*Experience managing inventory and merchandising store displays
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
*Available to work flexible hours that may include weekends and/or holidays
*Demonstrated ability to sell and increase sales in a retail environment
*Ability to create a positive work environment
*Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service
*Demonstrates ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work with a sense of urgency
*Demonstrates ability to follow up on assigned tasks
*Experience with MS Office Suite and web browsers
*Experience responding to customer inquiries via e-mail and/or phone in a timely manner
Physical Requirements:
*Frequent reaching at all levels to stock shelves and/or operate a cash register
*Frequent repetitive hand movements and fine finger manipulation to operate a cash register, tablet, or computer
*Occasional repetitive arm movement to stock shelves
*Constant handling and grasping of merchandise, containers, cartons, and/or money
*Must frequently bend or stoop to stock below waist-height shelves and to remove merchandise from carts
*Crouching, twisting, or pivoting at the waist and kneeling or squatting to low shelves
*Must be able to frequently lift 20-40 lbs. from floor to chest and frequently lift 1-2 lbs. from floor to 7 feet while stocking merchandise
*Must be able to stand for long periods of time with walks of short distances at a brisk pace
*Must be able to operate a hand truck, grocery cart, stock carts, electronic cash register, pricing guns, telephone, and various POS equipment where applicable
Pay and Benefits:
*Full-time position (35+ hours/week); some holidays and weekends may be necessary
*Pay rate is commensurate with position and experience
