Job Type: Full Time Position Summary:

The Director of Promotional Planning & Analytics leads a team focused on developing and delivering promotional analytics, weekly promotional reporting, and circular test measurement that will drive incremental trips to CVS/Pharmacy stores and grow profitable sales. Key accountabilities include management of the Weekly Promotional P&L; leading the development and continual evolution of circular effectiveness analytics and tools; cross-functional collaboration and analytical leadership on ad hoc promotional improvement tests and projects.

This role reports to the Vice President, Retail Pricing, Business Planning, & Analytics within the Front Store Merchandising organization.

1. Weekly Promotional P&L Management

• Steward for promotional sales and margin planning and forecasting. Ensure that weekly plans will deliver vs. current forecast.

• Interface with Merchandising Analytics and Financial Planners on monthly P&L forecasting and month-end activities.

• Alert Senior management (primarily VPMM’s) to promotional forecast/results opportunities and recommend potential resolution

• Drive continuous improvement to processes and tools supporting ad block modeling and forecasting, ad block planning, etc.

2. Promotional Effectiveness Development and Delivery

• Thought leader on Promotional effectiveness evolution and growth within the organization. Build out new capabilities to expand & enhance Promotional Effectiveness (e.g., decision support capabilities, trip forecasting, etc.)

• Develop promotional reporting and tools to support Merchandising and improve promotional sales and margin effectiveness. Lead implementation and training of merchants on promotional effectiveness methodology and tools.

• Innovate promotional lift methodology, measurement and reporting to meet expanding promotional channels (e.g., digital, email, direct mail, etc.) and other promotional needs of the business

3. Analytics and Recommendations

• Develop and/or leverage promotional optimization disciplines to assess promotional effectiveness metrics (e.g. sales lift, basket lift, margin lift, trip lift, etc.) and deliver recommendations to improve promotional performance by category, by vehicle, by market/ad version and in total.

• Analyze sales and margin results to identify opportunities (ex: over/under-performing sales/margin weeks and/or markets) and make recommendations to merchandising leadership

• Partner with leaders from numerous departments across the organization, including but not limited to Merchandising, Marketing, ExtraCare, Customer Experience, to provide analysis and insights on strategic initiatives and projects

• Development and delivery of promotional ad hoc analysis to what-if business opportunities and/or address business challenges

4. Reporting and Systems

• Development, delivery, and maintenance of meaningful reporting on all weekly circular activity

• Streamline reporting to insure relevant / actionable information and timely/ targeted delivery

• Promo System improvement and innovation to streamline work processes / workflow and improve accuracy Required Qualifications:

1. Previous experience managing a Team, Strong coaching and team development experience 2. 8-10 years in Retail Analytics directly supporting business decision makers. Analytical positions with support / interaction with Merchandising / Category management preferred 3.Experience with Promotional Lift / Promo Effectiveness methodologies preferred 4.Analytical mindset with detail orientation 5.Ability to multi-task several concurrent requests 6.Ability to quickly pull together data and generate impactful recommendations after analysis 7.Strong written communication skills – day to day AND formal presentations. Ability to create and deliver presentations to merchandising and marketing leadership 8.Strong project management and problem solving skills 9.Strong interpersonal and influencing skills 10.Deep knowledge of database structures and analytical tools including Oracle, Teradata, SQL, SAS Preferred Qualifications:

Retail Consulting or Merchandising/Marketing analytics experience. Specific experience with Promotional Effectiveness analytics and reporting. Education:
