Full-Time Assistant Managers

Build A Bear Workshop is now seeking Full-Time Assistant Managers with 2+ years of supervisory experience, exceptional interpersonal skills, proven success recruiting, training and development, extraordinary customer service, and a love of children.


At Build-A-Bear Workshop, the Full-Time Assistant Managers directly help to drive the success of our workshops. They are responsible for assisting the Store Manager in directing and leading a team of dynamic individuals to WOW guest experiences, WOW associate experiences, and meet sales and profitability goals set forth by the company.

The Full-Time Assistant Manager must be in full command of the total store in the Store Manager’s absence.

In addition, the Full-Time Assistant Manager's duties include:

  • Boosts team morale and energizes associates to ensure proper floor coverage, quality guest service, housekeeping/maintenance, and completion of daily tasks. Provides clear and effective direction and delegation to the team. Enforces all BABW policies and procedures.
  • Takes timely and appropriate action with associate issues.
  • Assists with the identification, recruitment and hiring of store associate and management candidates. Also, trains and develops associates and assists with maintaining associate retention.
  • Opens and closes stores.
  • Manages processing of guest transactions, register functions and other cash management policies and procedures.
  • Helps manage payroll and timekeeping as well as maintaining expense control for store supplies to meet the workshop’s business needs.
  • Maintains daily awareness of merchandise in stock, current marketing campaigns and promotions.

Requirements

  • Two + Years of supervisory experience with a proven, successful track record in a customer centric business, preferably in restaurant or specialty retail business
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent. College degree a plus
  • Is ambitious and success oriented.
  • Exceptional leadership and selling skills.
  • Models personal and professional integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Balances the appropriate levels of warmth and dominance in his/her management style.
  • Attracts and recruits solid candidates for all positions.
  • Proven success with training and developing associates in order to maximize their potential.
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Is flexible and adaptable in a fast paced work environment
  • Fosters a high energy environment and demonstrates an appreciation for children of all ages
