Job Description: 


Provide thought and technical leadership in a fast-paced and exciting legacy application that is positioned for the future.  Mentor and guide others by bringing specific technical knowledge gained through significant experience in a single, complex development environment or across multiple platforms.


 


Job Responsibilities:



  • Assist with defining requirements; can perform detailed analysis of systems specifications for complex systems.

  • Identify and design most efficient and cost effective solution through research and evaluation of alternatives.

  • Complete coding on new, complex and involved systems; conduct code reviews.

  • Engage seamlessly with both onshore and offshore development team to provide direction and guidance

  • Evaluate, redesign and modify existing program logic to improve overall system performance.

  • Evaluate and modify existing programs to take changes in systems requirements or equipment configurations into account.

  • Able to conduct feasibility studies for significant new systems or expansion of current systems.

  • Helps to develop project cost and benefit estimates, including identification and evaluation of alternatives.

  • Provide input to technical standards and systems investments.

  • Assist in evaluating alternative protocols, tools, standards and systems investments.

  • Able to provide training and assistance on full range of technical issues to lower level staff on a project team.

  • Serve as engineering lead on multiple cross application projects.

  • Able to carry out human resources administration activities such as interviewing job applicants, providing input for completing performance evaluations, etc.

  • Educate and mentor Associates regarding different career options, skills and abilities they should develop.

  • Provide a confidential forum for the discussion of any difficulties or work-related issues.

  • Periodically meet with project managers and other area supervisors to assess the skills and progress of staff members.

  • Able to act as "in charge" project leader for smaller projects or in temporary absence of project leader / manager.

  • Works independently on most aspects of work.

  • Receives general direction with occasional work review on other aspects.

  • In depth understanding of business unit functions and applications.

  • Possess unique or specific technical knowledge that is frequently sought out by others.

  • Effective communications with all levels of internal and external customers and staff.

 

Requirements

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • 5 or more years experience in IMS, CICS, COBOL, MQ, and DB2.

  • 3 or more years experience with systems development life cycle.

  • Experience with both "Waterfall" and "Agile" methodologies.

  • Experience with debugging tools, (Abend-aid, Expeditor, etc.)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite for project management.

  • 3 or more analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in a single complex development environment or across multiple platforms.

  • Operational maintenance environment experience.

  • Able to lead/walk through of design documents.

  • Independent communication with business partners to resolve design issues and negotiate project related items such as priorities and completion deadlines.
