About this job

The Category Coordinator supports the Meat Category Specialist and Meat Category Manager in all relevant areas of the business. Under the direction of the Category Manager, the Category Coordinator will support retail item and price management, business report development and analysis, creation and distribution of department business tools, and support collaborative objectives between procurement, merchandising, and pricing.

 

Essential Functions

-       Coordination and communication of regular and promotional retail hosting with the data integrity team

-       Manage inventory count sheets to assure accuracy

-       Manage weekly availability guides to facilitate store ordering

-       Utilize system tools to provide consistent reporting on every day, promotional, and holiday programs

-       Assist Category Manager with analyzing progress against department’s goals and objectives

-       Provide the stores with relevant historical sales data to make informed decisions about the department and how to maximize profitability with the direction from the Category Manager

-       Support the collection and management of a comprehensive competitive price audit process for all relevant markets

-       Assist with all weekly regular and promotional merchandising communication tactics for the regional and store teams

-       Work directly with local and regional DSD suppliers to facilitate collection of item, cost, and delivery information

-       Assist in DSD vendor and new item set up and maintenance processes

-       Work directly from the support office and be available to the stores both by phone and email during the hours assigned

-       Prepare easy to read and understandable files for Category Manger and stores which would include the use of Microsoft excel, PowerPoint and other office software

-       Other related duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-       Preferred Bachelor Degree with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience

-       Requires retail grocery experience with preferred natural foods and perishable commodity procurement of field management

-       Proficient systems/computer skills

-       Strong written/verbal communication and negotiation skills
