Timberlawn at Garland is new location for Timberlawn Mental Health System, located inside of Baylor Scott and White at Garland. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Mental Health Technicians to care for our Adult and Geriatric patients in this state-of-the-art facility.

The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living.

Candidate for this position has to be flexible, available any days of the week including weekends if needed, with sometimes short notice.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed .The specifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to adults and older adults (Geriatric) patients.

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology preferred.

One year experience working with a psychiatric patient population preferred.

CNA preferred.

Must be CPR certified.

Should possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors training.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping
